Independence County High Point Trip Report

one area 3/4 mile northwest of Almond (1,200+ ft)

Follow Hans Haustein's directions up the unsigned road toward the chicken houses, go left at the fork, pass #160, follow the main gravel road which starts descending, and observe a fence line along the right side. Look for a fence corner on the right, opposite an underground cable warning sign and park as best you can off the road.

Follow the fence line north into the woods and soon see an old woods road heading east. I believe this is the woods road shown on the topo heading east, then north to a dead end at a house. It dies in the woods near the field edge and no longer connects to the main road. The woods road followed a fence line and, as hoped, turned northeast at what I assume was the bend in the county line. The road soon petered out and I followed the same heading until I crossed the low ridge line. This is at/near where a track road ascends to the aforementioned chicken sheds. GPS is needed to pin down this liner highpoint for sure. I walked up to the sheds just for good measure. The whole area is unposted and was very quiet on this Sunday.
