Logan County High Point Trip Report

Mount Magazine had changed quite a bit since the last time I was up there, about 2 years ago. They have a
really nice visitor center built for the state park with some highpoint souvenirs and nice displays about the
flora and fauna of the mountain. I talked with the park employees about the timetable on when the new
lodge is to be built. They said ground breaking is scheduled for summer of 2003 with a completion by 2006.
The design is pretty impressive, 3 stories right on the bluff line
(it is actually on the site of the old lodge that burned).
They have also improved the trail to the summit. Nice gravel path. I also read about the plans for a
monument at the highpoint (don't know how big). Looks to be turning into a nice state park. It would be a
great place for the Highpointers convention after the lodge is built.
