Graham County Highpoint Trip Report
Mount Graham
Date: January 1, 2006
Author: W. Mallory
I slept in my vehicle at the start of the Heliograph Peak Road and by the road
to Shannon Campground. The Swift Trail is closed for the season at the junction
with the road leading up to Mount Graham, although there is even less snow on
Mount Graham than on Baldy or even the Greenlee CoHP. I hiked the road to the top,
passing the red squirrel closure sign en route. The sign is weathered and
mostly unreadable but a stake next to it is pretty clear that entry is not allowed.
I figured the chances of anyone messing with me were about the same as
me seeing a red squirrel. Very nice view from the northeast ridge a short walk
from the summit.
I also did Plain View Peak, Hawk Peak, and Heliograph Peak.
