Cochise County Highpoint Trail Advisory

The road was closed (locked gate) from Rustler Park to Long Park; and at Long Park, the trail was closed all due to an active wild fire. No smoke was seen by us, the posted USFS signs were old, so we pushed on; but when at the summit, the fire suppression aircraft could be heard and seen flying nearby!

More so, as this effects the route, all the trails leading to the summit had dead-fall trees across them, a fair estimate would be 200 downed trees lay across the trails!

The 6-way intersection at Junction Saddle: the dead falls were so great they obliterated the intersection, as well as took down all the trail signage! Memory from having been there in 2006 kept us going on the correct trail. So many trees were down, that when considering all the possible trails in the Coronado National Forest, it will take years to get the trail clear!

No cairn or sign-in register was located on the summit.
