My two parents live in the community of Encino in the San Fernando Valley
just north of Los Angeles. My father is a physician at Kaiser Permanentee
with subspecialties in Nuclear Medicine, Hematology and Oncology. My
mother has a Masters degree in the humanities and has taught high school
English. She is a certified flight instructor (CFII), with multiengine,
commercial, floatplane and balloon ratings.
Until quite recently she was the owner and operator of a flight
school at Van Nuys Airport. My parents are
observant Jews
and this background has had a profound influence on my personality and
general outlook.
