Colusa County High Point Trip Report

50 yards south of Snow Mtn East summit (7040 ft)

Date: June 18, 1998
Author: Andy Martin

The snow proved troublesome over 6,500', and I opted for some ridge walking and extra vertical gain to avoid about 1 mile of dreadful sidehill snow slogging. I sprinted to the top to temporarily tie Fred Lobdell at 24 counties, but he arrived soon after, and reclaimed his lead with 26 CA counties and 289 total US counties, the inter-galactic county leader (and I was there!).

The summit proved most enjoyable, with fine views and weather. I used Fred's hand level to observe a hillock of about 7,054 ft in the summit area that might lie in Colusa county. This possibly gives Colusa county a nicer HP than the county line shown on the quad.
