new route
Following Suttle's directions, I was still on 25N10 about mile 17.5 (sign).
However, confused, I did not turn left at mile 19. At mile 20, I reached a
saddle and set out for the peak visible beyond. The gain and distance were both
2-3 times greater but I never had difficult driving.
When I climbed the ridge, I went left and found a 1931 BM with an arrow to Mt. Ingalls
about 0.7 mile away and learned that I should have turned right at the ridgeline.
Also, if you stay just right of the ridgeline, you can hike on a use trail.
The summit BM on Mt. Ingalls is dated 2003 and is on a corner of the
foundation for the old fire tower.
