Elbert County High Point Trip Report

This mangy drive-up was too close to the interstate to resist, so we snagged it on the way to Denver. Page 46 of Hiking Colorado's Summits states "Walk over to the fence line on the north side of the county road, take your photo, and mark off this county on your checklist." This was sufficient for Sarah, but will of course disappoint the cohp purists. The rest of us were made of sterner stuff, and we walked north to the famed "Elbert Rock" outcrop, passing a mini cairn on the way. This mini cairn looked to be at the HP during our brief visit, so we took a GPS reading there on the stroll back.

GPS reading: Etrex WGS84, good sky - (39° 7.824' N, 104° 38.252' W) at 7,330 ft, a mini cairn
