Jefferson County High Point Trip Report

Buffalo Peak

Date: September 30, 1984
Author: David Olson

We drove to the Goose Creek trailhead southeast of Buffalo Peak. We hiked a mile up the trail, then turned uphill and bushwhacked through much downed timber to the top of the ridge east of the peak, then up the ridge to the two tops. We descended straight south from the top, into a steep drainage. We found 40-foot cubed boulders along the way, and had to perform cliff avoidance several times - a hundred feet to the left the first several times, then a tight place and then a hundred feet to the right several more times.
