Mesa County High Point Trip Report

I trekked out there on a 5 hour drive one way and bagged Leon Peak. I followed the directions from John Mitchler and Dave Covill's book to get to the trailhead.

Some additions:

Road is paved the first 2.8 miles. At 8.9 miles turn right on Rd. 126 and go 2.8 miles to the campground. Bear right at the billboard and park near the boat ramp. The trail is to the left of the ramp. The compass really came in handy and the rocks were big. Coming down was no easier and I turned off the ridge too early and ended up at the wrong reservoir, 1.2 miles to the west of the campground.

Time: 2:39 up and 2:35 down including the extra walk back.
