commentary
From Silver Pick Trailhead (good luck finding it via the forky forest roads) just west of Telluride,
hike up the obvious mine road to the pass (photo of the pass is on the cover of the first edition of
Hiking Colorado's Summits).
From the pass, go left along the ridge towards Wilson Peak or go straight (south) downhill
towards Mount Wilson. For Wilson Peak, skirt to your right to gain the south slope of the ridge
leading to the summit.
Hot tip: When in nearby Telluride, ride the free Gondola into town and avoid the sparse parking.
The gondola can be reached off the highway towards Lizard Head Pass. Parking is free and the ride down into
town is fun. In Telluride, count the celebrities you see.
