Tolland County High Point Trip Report

Date: April 11, 2003
Author: Clifford Young

Followed previously posted directions past the no trespassing sign to the tower. Rain had started to come down rather heavily. Successfully found the field and then the high point. Started to return to the field and it was no-where to be seen. The rain/fog had become so thick it was difficult to see more than a 100 feet or so through the trees. Fortunately, I had, at the last minute, set a way-point at my truck prior to setting out. Turned on the GPS. Thought it was crazy. Followed it anyway and soon saw the field through the trees. I had actually been going about 90 degrees from where I should have been. Just shows, even on a hike of only about 0.4 mile, if the weather turns you can still have problems.
