Gilchrist County Highpoint Trip Report

Date: April 10, 2007
Author: Chip Clark

Following Bill Jacobs' report, there is no news on point number one.

Point two is, I think, behind the house on the hill and not the nearer point in the woods. I accessed via the thorny woods, and strolled up behind the house. A dog came around and then bolted, apparently to get backup. By the time the dog had sent two other dogs, I was back near the road on the other side of a fence.

Third point is near a house where the owner still has every car he ever owned on the property.

There's an easier way to get the fourth and fifth points. Park at the new gate at 8752 Wesley and pick up a trail due south through cleared fields. Then just bushwhack due east two the two points. No more hunters blind exists on the eastern of the two points but a very large burned area is on that summit. (Remember- only YOU can prevent forest fires.)

Sixth area had surprisingly extensive views for Florida and a good way to finish the county.
