Charlton County Highpoint Trip Report

Previous reports get you to the right place to park. There were two signs on the same post by the Rayonier Company. One said "No Trespassing", the other said "Private Road- Travel at Your Own Risk". I decided to accept the invitation and travel at my own risk.

Conditions have changed at the summit. The land has been cleared, plowed, and replanted in tall sandy rows with itty bitty pine trees. The sandy rows hadn't even started eroding yet but there are strips of natural ground between the artificial planted rows. On the center of the contour, on the tiniest strip of natural high ground, stood a small but defiant palmetto plant. The pinnacle of Charlton GA still stands!
