Kennesaw Mountain is a federal park, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield. It is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. year-round, and until 8 p.m. in the summer. You can hike from the visitors' center (about 1 mile and 650 feet of gain) or, on weekdays, drive to the parking area on the mountain. On weekends, there is a free bus that will take you to the same spot.

From the parking area it is a hike of about 0.2 miles and 100 feet of gain.

Exit I-75 at GA 5 just north of Marietta and follow the brown signs to the park. From there choose your means to the summit.
