Gordon County High Point Trip Report

Date: February 3, 2001
Author: Mike Beavers

This highpoint is in the Chattahoochee National Forrest and access is not a problem.

Exit I-75 at the Calhoun Exit (State Highway 156). Go west on highway 156 until you reach Everett Springs Road NE. Turn on Everett Spring Road and go until you reach Rock Spring Road. Turn onto Rock Spring road and follow it until you reach Forest Service Road 955.This road will take you to Hidden Springs Camp ground. This campground is closed in the winter. FS 955 is also gated beyond this point. We parked where FS 955 is gated and started hiking up the road.

We followed FS 955 until we reached FS 955 F. Turn left onto FS 955 F. At this point 955 F continues up the mountain and 955 starts downhill. 955 F is not on the Topo Map. We followed 955 F until it reached the top of the mountain. We then followed the ridge line until it started down into Pocket Gap. We then angled back down the side of the mountain until we reached FS 955 to ensure that we covered the high point since the highpoint is on the side to the ridge and not on top of the mountain. In the summer you should be able to drive most of the way up to this highpoint and then have a short hike to the high point.
