Talbot County High Point Trip Report

I approached the Talbot County HP from the north via Route 190, as originally suggested by Ron Tagliapietra. You can pull off and park just a few hundred feet west of the intersection of Alt US 27 and GA 190.

Then walk west along the road to where it crests near a sign that describes the fees you're supposed to pay when you visit the park. (The large HP area in Meriwether County is immediately into the woods to the north). Cross the road and enter the woods to the south. Just 15 feet into the woods, find an old path that meanders, but basically stays on top of the ridge for about 0.25 mile before it disappears. In the wintertime, this is an easy 0.5 mile bushwhack southeast along the ridge to the vicinity of the county line (use your GPS to be sure you're in the right area).

When you're in this vicinity, also plan to visit the two HP areas in Meriwether County, and Dowdell Knob in Harris County.
