Amateur Astronomy

My interest in astronomy has waxed and waned ever since I was a youngster. Most of my current interest stems from Edward Earl, who prior to leaving San Diego a member of the San Diego Astronomy Association.

At present my principal instrument is a Meade 2045d four-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope designed for extreme portability. It was purchased expressly for the total solar eclipse which passed across South America on November 3, 1994, and served as the "camera" for the above photograph of that event.
