Humboldt County Highpoint Trip Report

one unnamed area on Pocahontas County line (1,242+ ft)

Humboldt County's high point is located in Section 31 of Avery Township, on the east side of the Pocahontas County Line. I visited there on May 3, 2005 after sunset.

From the intersection of State Highway 3 and County Road P19 in Gilmore City, I drove north on P19 for 0.65 mile and parked on the road crest nearest the southern spur.

I explored the southern spur in the waning twilight. It was covered with scrub grass.

I then proceeded to the middle spur on the farmplace. It was lit by the standard mercury-vapor light, but the lights in the large house were out. It could have been abandoned.

I continued to the northern spur. The high ground is about 100 yards south of the treeline, but the topo map suggests that the trees are on the high ground.

I walked back to my car on the road, 9 minutes round trip.
