Wayne County High Point Trip Report

one area 0.9 mile southeast of Spring Branch Church (1,120+ ft)
This area is 9.8 miles north of the IA/MO state line (Line Street in Lineville) on US 65.
At an obvious crest, see house #2254, owned by K. Jones. Highest ground is just north
of the house near a fence line, about 100 feet in from the highway.
two areas 1/4 mile north and 1 1/4 miles southwest of Spring Branch Church (1,120+ ft)
Continue north about 1/2 mile on US 65 from the first area. The site of Spring Branch Church, of which not
a trace remains, is 1/2 mile west of US 65 on King. For the northern area, drive north from the junction of
King and 35th on 35th and see the obvious rise in the cornfield to the left (west). Here I met the landowners
who remembered being very surprised at meeting Dick Ellsworth at 5:30 AM earlier in the year.
For the southern area, backtrack to King, go right (west) one mile, go left (south) about 3/4 miles to the
vicinity of house #2271 on the right. Obvious high ground across the road from the house near an east-west fence line.
