Winnebago County Highpoint Trip Report

The farmhouse area of Winnebago County had two middle age guys cutting limbs in
the yard - no elderly couple was in sight. I was escorted to the windmill
highpoint by the more colorful of the two guys. He said the small plot of land
that preserves the windmill and highpoint is owned by the federal government.
Maybe it is just leased but the guy said they get to deduct that land from taxes.
Twice a year, some military trucks roll onto the property and setup
listening devices near the highpoint. I had to provide the guy my name because
he figured the feds saw me there and will be coming around to ask him who I was.
At least that's what he said.
