Franklin County High Point Trip Report

Date: May 5, 2002
Author: Jon Mann

The Maynus' at the end of the road were very friendly, and allowed us to park in their drive while we walked to the highpoint. Mr. Maynus was very interested and accompanied us on the hike to the highpoint, while filling us in on local history. The man that owns the property lives in Chicago, and maintains it as a small hunting preserve, but Mr. Maynus was sure he would not mind us visiting in non-hunting season. As Tim Worth reported, the highpoint is the spot elevation 604 at the edge of the road. This is where an old homestead used to be, and most of the high contour was a pear orchard at one time.
