Randolph County High Point Trip Report

Date: June 2, 2002
Author: John Mitchler

Situated in southwest IL along the Mississippi River, this cohp consists of two areas along a county road on a ridge. From the river town of Chester, take IL3 along the bluffs to Rockwood (just north of the Jackson-Randolph county line) and there take the paved unmarked road into the bluffs. After 0.2 mile, turn right (east) on gravel Ebenezer Road. Go 1.7 miles staying right at Cemetery Road and at mile 1.9 stay right passing a church not marked on the topo. At mile 2.4 note the north area on the left (east) side of the road. This wooded area has an old foundation. For the south area, continue on the road and at mile 2.6 note "Andrews 1031 Gun Club Road" and veer right on the driveway up to the farmhouse on obvious ground. The pleasant older lady thought another area (Hamilton) was measured higher than her house but has not been investigated so an opportunity for Olsonization exists.
