Johnson County High Point Trip Report

one area near south county line (1,010+ ft)

As Bob Schwab reported in 2001, the approach to this one is tricky. I used a different approach, coming from I-65. From I-65, exit 80, go west on MO 252, and zero the odometer as you cross US 31. Pass through a very large National Guard base as you head west and reach the small town of Nineveh and a four-way stop at 5.4 miles. Continue straight ahead, do some jogs, and once the road is heading due west again you will be on CR 750S, which shows on DeLorme. After 7.8 total miles west of US 31, turn left (south) onto the signed Peoga Road. This road twists and turns for 2.2 miles and ends at a T-intersection and stop sign in Peoga. Turn right (northwest) onto CR 250W for a little more than 1/10 mile, then turn left at the convenience store onto CR 900S. Park at the church just ahead on the left.

Once on foot, follow Bob Schwab's directions from April 2001, being very careful of speeding cars along the narrow road. The highpoint field was weedy and overgrown and definitely was not cultivated in 2003.
