Posey County High Point Trip Report

The Posey County and Vanderburgh County highpoints are only a few miles apart, and you may want to be
efficient and attempt to visit both sites while you are in this area.
Leave Interstate 64 at Exit 18, and drive south for 4.9 miles on Indiana Route 65, passing by the "town" of
Armstrong to a yellow blinker at an intersection. Turn right (west) and go 3 miles to the town of St. Wendel.
Turn left (south) on St. Wendel Road and drive 0.85 mile to the intersection with Diamond Island Road.
Turn right (east) and drive a little more than 1 mile to where Rexing Road comes in on the left
(south), and Diamond Island Road turns sharply to the right (north). Turn right (north) and watch for the
first driveway on your right. This brick house is owned by Jim and Linda Thacker (11232 Diamond Island Road).
I got permission from Jim to walk out behind his house and garage. The highpoint is near a second
garage/shed and the pool at (38 deg 5.150 min N, 87 deg 42.603 min W).
This area has the distinction of being the lowest county highpoint in Indiana.
