Bell County High Point Trip Report

one area on Cumberland Mountain (BM Chadwell) and two areas on state line 1,000 ft west of BM TWW9

Note: Ken Oeser's trip report from May 5-6 may be more desirable (especially if coming from the South). Also, I didn't take the time to fully document detailed directions. From 25E just South of Pineville, Ky take 119 East. After a few miles turn right on 987 East. Take 987 East to Cubage, Ky. Turn right where sign indicates directional assistance towards Hensley Homestead. Take this road to the end of the pavement, where begins the hike (unless you have an ATV).

Go up, up, up, all the way to the Hensley Settlement. Hike 0.5 mile southeast to BM Chadwell. I also could not locate the benchmark.

Returning to the north find a trail that heads east. Follow the trail which stays mostly on the ridge top about 3 miles to the 2 borderline HPs which will be up on the left. The view from the western of these 2 HPs is - WOW! The Eastern-most HP (a.k.a. Oeser's Dome, not labeled on topo) is a doozy. It requires shimmying up a major hunk of rock.
