This hp is privately owned by a coal company, which claims that there is danger
that the summit area will collapse into the mine. They therefore require a
waiver form to be signed and submitted before you visit.
Obtain the form from the state highpointers website.
From Appalachia, VA, go 8 miles west to the state line. Turn right onto the
road signed for the FAA facility. Reach the facility after 1.5 miles but
continue another 0.2 mile. Turn left and go 0.1 mile to the hp. The road turns
to gravel about 0.1 mile after the FAA facility. The top has a fire tower that
is now closed and there are no views though the trees.
