Muhlenberg County High Point Trip Report

From Rosewood, drive west on Highway 973 and soon pass Macedonia church on the left. About another 0.2-0.3 mile down the road, a road from the church junctions into the road. The owner of the highpoint, Mr. Yonts, lives in the next brick house on the left. His mailbox is on the right and 'T. Yonts' on it. To best way to hike to the highpoints is to drive back east to the church and turn left (north) and follow this road to a right turn north, about 1/4 mile east of the highpoints.

Park near the curve, hike southwest uphill to the ridge and hit a dirt road that follows the ridge up over the first point and just below the second point. Here cross a fence to the second area, then follow the ridge north to the third area, which seems to be highest next to a fence and field, but in the woods next to the fence. Mr. Yonts said there used to be a plaque at the southern edge of the county where Highway 181 goes south, and that was the highest point in the county. Well, if anybody goes back, just tell him his ridge is 30 feet higher!! I checked tonight to make sure I had the highpoint.
