Calcasieu Parish Highpoint Trip Report

four areas (95+ ft)

Date: April 17, 2004
Authors: Bob and Dotty Martin

There are 3 larger areas and a minor one in forested land near a housing area. From DeQuincy, just west of the junction of LA27 and LA12, drive north on LA389. After a left, right, and left turn, reach Hargrove and turn north on the western entry to the Hargrove Loop. After 3/4 mile, when the loop road turns east, go left on Rose Hollie Road and drive north a quarter mile to its end at the parish boundary. This brings you to a point east of the large northeastern area.

From the last 2 mobile homes on the left, with permission, walk west a quarter mile through brush and into a tall grass area and then into more trees to the hp area. Note that the hp area in this parish is part of a large contour extending well into the parish to the north.

For the 2 southern areas, return to LA389 and drive west 3/4 mile to Alton Pierce Road. Turn right and drive about a quarter mile to find an obscure ATV track on the right leading east into the thick brush and woods.

With permission, walk this track that goes south of the larger western area and right to the smaller eastern one. Try to find openings to venture north of this track to cover the larger western area. The small western area is accessed from the mobile home park that is on north on Alton Pierce Road.
