Claiborne Parish High Point Trip Report

The highpoint of Claiborne Parish is reached by driving west from the intersection of Highways 154 and 518
in Athens on Highway 518 for 1.7 miles to Old Athens Road and turning north past the New Hope Baptist Church.
Drive 0.9 mile north on Old Athens Road to Fire Tower Road (gravel). Turn east on Fire Tower
Road and drive 0.2 mile to a rough gravel road on the north side of the road. Continue on the rough gravel
road about 0.1 mile to a cleared area that is the highpoint area.
The highpoint is undefined so strolling around is necessary. I left a register in a film canister at the base of
the south guy wire (has a yellow plastic cover) of a power pole near the highpoint area on the north side of
the rough road.
