Claiborne Parish Highpoint Trip Report

This is an easy one. On LA-518 near the top of a hill, 2 miles west of Athens or 10 miles east of US-79, I turned north on Old Athens Road. After 0.8 mile, I turned right on Fire Tower Road, which is well-graded gravel. After 0.3 more mile a very narrow dirt road covered with pine needles forks left. My Nissan truck had ho trouble with it but highpointer without high clearance may have to park here and walk the remaining 0.1 mile to a grassy turnaround at the HP. I could find no remaining evidence of the radio tower indicated on the topo map, though there was a lot of junk scattered around.
