Barnstable County Highpoint Trip Report

Pine Hill

We met the group organized by Dave Dunham (Thanks, Dave!) at the Sagamore Park & Ride just after 8 am. We ended up having 25 people, which was fantastic. From the Park & Ride to the west entrance of Otis AFB took around 15 minutes.

We waited at the gate for approximately 15 minutes until Dave's contact met us and collected our liability waivers. From there, it was a 5 minute drive to the highpoint. We drove down the main gate road for less than a mile, then took a left (north) onto Perkins Road. After a little more than 3 miles, we came to a T intersection and went left. In less than a quarter-mile, there is a gated installation with a radio tower. This is where we parked our cars.

We then walked a few hundred feet down the road to a short path into the woods where the highpoint is located. Multiple benchmarks. No views but a beautiful day and we were all happy we got to bag this one, finally. We returned to the Park & Ride where we all went our separate ways.

We had four more county highpoints to bag this day.
