Franklin County Highpoint Trip Report

Crum Hill - two points (2,841 ft)

Date: May 3, 2008
Author: Ben Carl

We left from my house in Milford MA at 7:15 am, and got to the intersection of Tilda Hill and Bliss Roads at about 9:20. Rainy, foggy and nasty.

We crossed the road and walked the snowmobile/ATV trail for 1/4 mile to the trail fork and took the right fork as indicated in previous reports. There is another fork just before you reach the north summit, go left, which is the obvious uphill trail. We easily found the cairn for the north summit and continued south on the trail towards the main summit of Crum Hill. After we passed by the south clearing, the trail obviously stayed to the west of the high ground but we stayed on the trail until it wound around to the south of the summit.

We basically followed Gene Daniell's report verbatim. Just as it begins to descend, we bushwhacked due north into the woods. It took less than 5 minutes to find the register hanging from the tree. We signed the register and headed back. We didn't do any formal leveling but, just taking into account the amount we descended to the saddle and then back up, we both believed the south summit was higher.

Back to the car by 10:45.
