Hampden County Highpoint Trip Report

Round Top Hill (1,794 ft)

Date: May 3, 2008
Author: Ben Carl

After an hour of meandering through sleepy western Massachusetts villages, we parked at the southeast foot of Round Top Hill around 1 pm. We easily found the white-blazed trail thanks to the directions in Sue Ann Miller and Frank Price's report.

This trail has an unnecessary amount of switchbacks and we were tempted to leave the trail several times. This was exacerbated by the fact that the trail was very wet and footing very poor. The white blazed trail meets up with the orange blazed when you reach the northeast ridge. From there, it is just a few minute walk to the summit. We found the benchmark and register and were back at the car after a round trip time of about 30 minutes.
