an update

I spent some time at the Anne Arundel (AA) Department of Public Works looking at and getting topo maps of this county. AA has mapped their county with 2 foot contours and will sell you topos of this information. The bottom line is that we can accurately tell the relative elevations of our four candidate cohps.

- "TV Tower" area - 318+ feet. Based on the shape and location of the contour, this should be the oak tree in front of the house on Fields Road. Further, the 310-foot contour surrounding this area is the only one in the county.

- "2200' east of TV Tower" - 290+ feet.
- "Tower" area (Fort Meade point) - 306+ feet.
- "east of Maryland City" - 302+ feet. I had originally thought this was less than 300. I was mistaken.

If you would like to verify this information, most of it is online at here. Follow the prompts. You will need to use Microsoft Explorer and Windows to read things. Here is an alternative link.

However, the Fort Meade information is not on-line. For that you will have to purchase paper maps for $10 each (or more if you feel like spending the money). You will want quads F8 and F9. If you walk in they can make you a single map with the northern 3 points.

Thus, I believe this county may be accomplished in a single point (and off of an interstate yet). To quote one of our "spectral" members, "We don't need no stinkin' Fort Meade point."
