Baltimore City Highpoint Trip Report

After reading several trip reports for Baltimore City MD and visiting them with my daughter Gabi, I'm not sure the directions posted are accurate. I checked the GPS coordinates I entered beneath the large oak trees at the back corner of the parking lot against the online map in Topozone. I had thought at the time that that point seemed too far from the buildings that comprise Oheb Shalom, so we walked around the parking lot a bit.

The coordinates I registered beneath the oak tree at the rear corner of the lot were (in the WGS84/NAD83 datum) (39° 22' 6.2" N, 76° 42' 46.3" W) as shown here.

That point seems to me to be outside of the city limits, though easy to assume it is the highest point since the parking lot doesn't end at the city limits, and rises steadily toward that back corner. In fact, it appears the city limit passes through a corner of the building! The snippet of the 480-foot contour contains the playground where we spent some time(associated with the Learning Ladder) and the place where we parked for the playground. So I'm sure we hit it in our walk to/from/around.

On the plus side, to get to the back of the parking lot, you would have had to drive right through this point. Also, the contour was likely leveled a bit for paving. That may have nudged the contour entirely outside the city limits.
