Howard County Highpoint Trip Report

The exit from I-70 is #68. The highest fence side around the tower seems to be the south side. The bigger maple behind the church building has a ground-level plaque honoring Bob Clements in 1982.

At Mike Schwartz’s prompt, I went in search of the four-county corner, a half mile northeast of the highpoints. This point is indeed marked and is located just west of the pond shown on the topo in the mowed yard of the large house numbered 4704 on MD 144 which is a frontage road to MD 27 (which exits I-70).

The marker is a low granite block placed by the DAR which honors Parr's Spring, the headwaters of the Patapsco River. The marker names the current 4 counties (Carroll, Frederick, Howard, Montgomery) as well as the original four counties back in 1776 (Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Frederick, Howard). I was allowed to photograph the marker. I don't collect 4-county corners but this seemed easy to do.
