Calhoun County Highpoint Trip Report

Dixon Hill (1,106 ft)

Date: August 14, 2008
Author: John Hasch

I followed previous directions and parked near the gate. The tract west was obvious but it became overgrown and harder to follow as I continued toward the summit. The trail brings you to the former sand pit operation and I continued south of the sand dune to pick up the trail again on the southwest corner of that area. The trail trends generally west, sometimes southwest, as it continues up the hill toward the summit. At one point, I came to a section where a 10 foot section of chain-link fence was stretched across the trail. However, this was not posted and the fence was easily circumvented. Continue uphill to the summit area about 0.4 mile from the gated start.
