Pope County High Point Trip Report

I somehow found my way to the Douglas - Pope Co Line on the north-south CR 87 (205th Avenue) and drove south. I'll number the areas (1460+) from north to south.

Area 1 is a grassy knoll on the opposite side of the RR tracks which runs parallel to the road to the east. It's about 2/3 the way from the county line to the bend to the west in CR 87.

I next parked on CR 87 about 2/10 mile west of the bend and walked south out into a soy bean field for areas 3, 4, and 5. From area 5 I walked east to the RR tracks and walked them back to the corner in CR 87, then back to my vehicle.

I then drove west, south and east to get area 6 to the north in an open field.

Lastly, I drove into the driveway of the ranch buildings just northwest of the aforementioned corner and asked Mr. Mrnak (Czech name) for permission (granted) to walk through a little stretch of woods behind his house and into his corn field (unharvested) to the east for area 2. He and his son were working with their dairy herd in the barn. A Cubs game was blaring on their barn radio.
