Crawford County High Point Trip Report

Date: November 17, 2002
Author: Dave Covill

This is an easy one, albeit with a long gravel approach. Jon Man's report is wrong, as one goes left not right at the fork.

Approach from north of Bixby on 49, turn off 0.3 mile north of Dillard (nothing there), to the west on Crooked Tower Road. Go 1.0 mile and stay LEFT at the fork. Go 1.4 further to crest, passing false crests, which is 0.1 mile before intersection with Camel Hump Road. HP is on right (north) side of road in flat area about 30 feet from road, by 10 pines.

Walk up a faint 2-track path to it. I exited via Camel Hump to the west, and went 7.4 mile to reach 19. This area has roads which follow ridge lines, and makes for rather interesting driving with nice views. By the way, I failed to follow various advice, and this was the opening weekend of deer rifle season in MO. I saw thousands of hunters this day, and heard hundreds of shots. Not cool.
