Webster County High Point Trip Report

on Mansfield NW quadrangle (1,740+ ft)

Date: May 26, 2001
Author: Hans Haustein

Drive north from Seymour on Highway C for 5.3 miles to Highway P. When driving in this area be on the look out for the Amish in their buggies, because they can easily be run upon when driving over a crest in the road. Take Highway P to the east for 0.6 miles to a pullout on the north side of the road for the Seymour State Wildlife Management Area.

It is about 250' to the NNE to the base of an old fire tower. The benchmark is located about 13 feet to the NW of the NW corner of the fire tower base. The high point area is to the SE of the old fire tower location, and it covers a large area with no distinct highpoint. About half of the highpoint area is cleared with scattered trees, while the other half is covered in low brush with trees. Watch for ticks in season.
