Attala County High Point Trip Report

The following directions are convenient for one who has just visited the cohp of Winston Co. From the intersection of state highways 25 & 19 in SW Winston Co., go NW on Hwy 19 2.1 mi. to (Attala Co.) Road 5001 (paved), and turn right. Go 7.0 mi. to Hwy. 14. Turn right (E).

You're now about 13 - 14 mi. E of Kosciusko, MS, if you want to use Hwy. 14 to access this cohp from the Natchez Trace Pkwy. there.

From the aforementioned intersection on Hwy. 14, go E on 14 just 1.0 mi. to gravel Rd. 5201 and turn left (N). Go 4.0 mi. on this poorly maintained county road. Now looky-heah -- the boy here turned right onto an open-gated unmaintained dirt road, with huge a mud hole near its inception. It was only 1.6 mi. to the fire tower, mostly dry otherwise, but 4-WD was definitely required at the beginning; I must tell you to bear left at a hill-top intersection of sorts en route to find the firetower. BUT, the tower/cohp surely can be reached easier from the NW (see map), said road surely accessible further up Rd 5201 than I went! No views at ground level, but tower is climbable.
