Lee County Highpoint Trip Report

seven areas (520+ ft)

Date: April 8, 2004
Author: Bob Martin

These areas, mostly along roads, are northeast of Tupelo. From Saltillo, drive east on MS363. After 3 miles, turn right and drive south on CR1389. After one mile reach a "Y"-shaped junction. Take the left fork which is CR1451. (Delorme shows it as 1502). Three-quarters of a mile brings you to a road on the right leading to the Lee Lookout Tower. The area south of the tower may be the hp of the county. Two smaller and lower areas are along the road south in property of the Saltillo Fishing Club.

For the area north of the tower, drive 3/4 mile east and 0.3 mile north to mail box 841. Drive in to the house for permission. The hp is the hill in the pine trees south of the residence.

Return to CR1451 and drive a little over a mile past the Hebron Church to a junction with elevation 511 on the topo. Just south of this junction on the right are two areas in trees and brush. Continuing south, take the right fork at a Y junction. At the first house on the right, stop in and let the owner show you the Williams BM, near the high point of that area.
