From Tylertown, MS's intersection of US Hwy. 98 and Miss. Hwy. 583, proceed NW on 583 about 17 miles to Brister's Store Rd., on the left. It is paved, and there is a store/gas station there. It is in sight of the county line. Go left off the highway here, immediately bear right as there is a subsidiary road off to the left. Go W 0.5 mi. to the crest of a low rise, and turn R onto an unpaved lane (it leads to a house, but you won't have to go that far). You'll see a pond on the right. Look to the left (W); there's another pond encircled by a 4-foot dam at a slightly higher elevation. I walked the circumference, and went over to the water's edge. Nothing in the area seemed higher.

Does the topo show a 480' contour, and if so, is that just the man-made dam? Or are there tick marks I can't see indicating a depression? Indeed there is one, though the pond occupies the whole. There are Artesian wells in the area (historically dubbed the "Ozone Belt" in the days of health spring resorts), so perhaps that explains the pond on top of a hill.

The Lincoln Co., MS cohp is not far from here.
