Alexander County Highpoint Trip Report

After looking at the maps, I didn't believe there was a road to the summit either but it was shown at Google Earth, coming from the south. I drove past the tree farm gate a few times before finding it and getting the number, then had to drive back to Dover Church for cell service to call (704-872-7667 is the number on the sign, they directed me to call Louie at 704-871-6844).

From US 64 at the Alexander/Caldwell county line go east and take first left onto Old NC 90, then left onto Blair Road and then left again on Dover Church Road. Pass Dover Church at a rise and then the road becomes gravel, go another 0.6 mile to the posted tree farm gate on the right. From that gate I went in, took the first right fork and then stayed mostly straight 4.4 miles to the summit. The gravel road is easily passable, the last half mile of switchbacks was interesting and I sped up to keep momentum so my truck didn't lose traction. At the last turn I abruptly came right up to the BM, nearly Martinizing it.
