Ashe County High Point Trip Report

Did this using telephone-generated notes from Fred Lobdell. Better be bushwhack-hardened for this one.

We found Peak Valley Road in Ashe County and parked near an electrical box near the road. Walked east-southeast up a trail-road, then did heavy duty bushwhack up through very steep woods-cliffs and made the ridge of "The Peak" just south of the gap, south of the main summit.

I think there were moments when Kevin was prepared to give up, but I wouldn't let him. Pushed through easier wooded terrain to the summit and found Trout BM and witness. We took a direct route west off the summit, very steep.

The ratio of hours to miles tells the story.

Trip statistics: 3.75 hours, 2 miles, 1700 feet of elevation gain.
