Currituck County Highpoint Trip Report

Spot Elevation on Three Dunes: I told the guard that I wanted to see a model home (which is funny since I can't even afford an outhouse on the Outer Banks) and he issued me a visitor pass. Highest dune is next to the house that Mike Schwartz mentions and has still not been developed.

Luark Hill: I was staying with friends about 4.5 miles due south of Luark Hill. Worrying about possible access issues, I started the hike from the beach house at 5 am. I chose tennis shoes for my walk on the beach and only received one blister.

Munson Lane is twice signed "No Trespassing, Violators will be Prosecuted", so I just stayed off the road and walked over the dunes to the obvious highest ground. Note that you will be in plain sight of a large beach house for most of your "summit attempt". If I had my 4wd truck, this hike would have been reduced to less than a 1/4 mile round trip.
