Henderson County High Point Trip Report

Little Pisgah Mountain (5280+ ft)

Date: late July 1998
Author: John Mitchler

Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP) southeast of Great Smoky Mountains NP. Easy hike. At BRP Milepost 107.7, veer off to the east side of the BRP into the parking lot for Mt. Pisgah. Continue through the first lot north to the second lot, which happens to be over the BRP tunnel here. You've completed the first of two tricks for achieving this HP. The second trick is to find the correct trail. We charged up the hill to the immediate right of the Pisgah Trail sign in fine bushwhack style.

I suggest that others go to the south end of this second parking area and look for the trail ascending the ridge to the right of the parking lot. Most everyone else will be heading for the far north end of the lot to hike the Mt. Pisgah trail. Take the trail up the ridge and at the highest point, stop, and wander ten feet off to the left (northwest) side of the trail. I think the HP is at the base of some big trees.
