From I-73 take NC 211 east about 1.2 miles. Travel parallel to a railroad track. The track will veer off to the right with a road at an intersection. Take the next left (SR 1280) after this. There are three contours in this area. The northernmost is 0.3 mile north of NC 211. Turn left onto a dirt road. Immediately come to an old gate and fence. The gate had a lock but was open. Signage indicated the area is part of a public works. The house depicted on the topo map is no longer there and the area is a grassy open field; it looks as if they are planning on cutting and selling sod, or something. Anyway, it looks like there are two candidates here. One is in a tree with surrounding brush, the other is on a gentle rise about 30 yards west of the edge of the grassy area.

Get back in the car and head south about 0.15 mile. The road rises; park here. The high point of the easternmost contour was obvious here in the winter. Bushwhack about 40 yards into brush and trees. Wear pants, as there are plenty of thorns.

According to the southernmost topo, the third area is at the edge of a clearing from SR 1280. The clearing is no longer here. I wandered around a bit but the high ground wasn't as obvious as the other two areas.
