Pender County Highpoint Trip Report

From I-85, take exit 398 for Highway 38. Go west through Burgaw to Atkinson. At the blinking light in Atkinson, travel 1.8 miles further west on 53 and then turn right (north) onto SR 1100. Go 1.2 miles at curve to right, turn left onto sand track, and travel 0.3 mile to cemetery and park. Using the topo, orient yourself and walk to the two high points. This network of roads can be accessed from the north but were posted, gated, and muddier.
